BOA Digital Design Pathway

Turn your ideas into something people can see, experience and remember.

The digital world isn’t built by technology alone. It also needs writers, designers, storytellers, researchers, producers and creative thinkers who understand audiences, communicate ideas and turn concepts into engaging experiences.
The Digital Design Pathway at BOA Digital is designed for students who want to combine creativity with the opportunities created by digital technology. It brings together traditional academic subjects with applied digital qualifications, allowing you to develop skills in communication, analysis, storytelling, design, production and creative problem-solving.

Depending on your chosen programme, you could study:

English Literature

explore powerful writing, ideas, language and different interpretations

History

investigate evidence, question interpretations and understand how the past has shaped the world

Creative Digital Media Production

design and produce digital content for different audiences and purposes

Esports

explore competitive gaming through performance, analysis, enterprise and the wider esports industry

Digital Games Production

design, develop, test and refine interactive digital experiences

These subjects form the core of the proposed Digital Design Pathway within our Sixth Form curriculum.

Choose subjects that work together

Choosing your Sixth Form programme is about more than selecting individual qualifications. The right combination allows different subjects to complement each other, giving you a broader range of skills and helping you develop your own creative direction.

Interested in media, content and communication?

Creative Digital Media Production can develop your practical production skills, while English Literature strengthens your understanding of language, audiences, narratives and how meaning is constructed.

Interested in games and interactive experiences?

Digital Games Production takes you into areas such as game design, 3D modelling, game engine scripting and testing, while Esports allows you to explore the wider competitive gaming industry, including performance, analysis and enterprise.

Interested in writing, research and storytelling?

English Literature and History develop sophisticated skills in communication, interpretation and critical thinking. In a digital world filled with information, AI-generated content and competing narratives, the ability to question sources, construct arguments and communicate ideas effectively has increasing relevance.

Interested in the business of the creative industries?

Esports, Creative Digital Media and Digital Games Production allow you to explore industries where technology, audiences, content and commercial thinking increasingly come together.

Build your pathway around where you want to go

You don’t need to decide on a specific career at 16. Your Sixth Form programme should give you opportunities to explore what you’re good at and discover where those strengths could take you. Your choices could begin opening different possibilities:

The aim isn’t to choose a job now. It’s to begin developing a combination of creative, analytical and digital skills that gives you choices later.

Your choices can start opening different possibilities:

University. Apprenticeship. Industry.

The Digital Design Pathway can lead in many directions. You might progress to university, studying subjects such as Digital Media, Games Design, Games Development, English, History, Journalism, Marketing, Animation, Digital Design or other creative and humanities disciplines.

You might choose a higher or degree apprenticeship, developing your skills while working within areas such as digital marketing, content production, creative technology or the wider digital sector.
Or your pathway could eventually lead towards careers across media, games, esports, publishing, communications, heritage, marketing and the creative industries.

The advantage of this pathway is its breadth. You can develop the ability to research and think critically, communicate effectively, understand audiences and turn ideas into digital experiences.

Your subjects. Your direction.

At BOA Digital, digital design isn’t simply about learning how to use software.

It’s about developing the ideas behind what you make, understanding the people you’re making it for and gaining the confidence and skills to turn those ideas into something real.

Choose subjects that connect. Explore what interests you. Develop your own creative direction.

IMAGINE. DESIGN. COMMUNICATE. CREATE.
