SIXTH FORM ENRICHMENT
More than your courses. More than your qualifications.
At BOA Digital, enrichment gives you opportunities to explore your interests, develop new skills, meet different people and build experiences that strengthen your next steps. Whether you want to get involved in sport, develop your digital skills, pursue a creative interest or challenge yourself academically, we want you to make the most of your time with us.
Our existing enrichment programme already includes activities across sport, digital technology, cyber security, music, creative subjects and academic enrichment. As our Sixth Form develops, students will have opportunities to access and help shape an enrichment programme designed specifically for post-16 life.
Try something new. Develop what you love. Make your Sixth Form experience your own.
Develop your interests
Enrichment is an opportunity to spend time doing something because it interests you.
Our wider academy offer currently includes activities such as basketball, football, cyber security, Tech Digital, Creative Digital, choir, jazz and subject-based clubs, alongside opportunities for students to receive additional academic support.
For Sixth Form students, we want to build on this with opportunities that reflect their increasing independence and interests. That could mean developing your technical skills, taking part in sport, pursuing creative projects, entering competitions or getting involved in activities connected to your future career.
Enrichment should give you the chance to discover something new as well as become better at something you already enjoy.
Personal Development
Alongside your chosen courses, Sixth Form students will take part in a programme of Personal Development lessons designed to prepare you for life beyond BOA Digital.
These sessions will explore the knowledge and skills you need as you become increasingly independent. This can include areas such as relationships and wellbeing, financial awareness, online life, careers, employability, university and apprenticeship preparation, personal safety and wider issues affecting young adults.
There will also be opportunities to think about your own ambitions and prepare for important next steps such as applications, interviews and the transition into higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
The aim is simple: we want you to leave Sixth Form with more than qualifications. We want you to leave confident, informed and ready to navigate what comes next.
Take on the EPQ
The EPQ gives you the chance to investigate a subject that genuinely interests you and take much greater ownership of your learning. You choose an area to explore, develop your own project and undertake substantial independent research before producing a final outcome.
Your project could connect directly with your future ambitions or allow you to investigate something beyond your main courses. A Computer Science student might explore an issue surrounding artificial intelligence or cyber security, while a History student might investigate a particular historical debate.
More importantly, the EPQ develops skills in research, critical thinking, project management, academic writing, referencing, evaluation and presentation.
It is independent study with a purpose – and an opportunity to demonstrate that you can take an idea and see it through.
Build experiences for your next step
Universities and employers are interested in more than a list of qualifications. They want to understand what interests you, what you’ve experienced and what you can contribute.
Enrichment gives you opportunities to develop examples that you can draw upon when writing applications or attending interviews. Taking responsibility within a club, completing an independent project, representing the academy in sport, entering a competition or developing a specialist digital skill can all tell someone more about you.
These experiences can develop leadership, teamwork, communication, resilience, creativity and confidence – skills that matter whatever you decide to do next.
Get involved. Have a voice.
As the Sixth Form grows, student voice will help shape the enrichment opportunities available. If there is an activity, competition, society or project that students want to establish, we want them to have the confidence to put forward ideas and help make them happen.
Being a Sixth Form student means having greater independence, but it also means having opportunities to lead, contribute and make a difference to the community around you.
Make your Sixth Form experience bigger than your timetable.
