BOA DIGITAL SIXTH FORM ADMISSIONS – FAQs
Thinking about joining BOA Digital Sixth Form in September 2027?
Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about applications, entry requirements, offers and joining us.
How many students will the Sixth Form have?
When fully open, BOA Digital Sixth Form will have capacity for 150 students in Year 12 and 150 students in Year 13, creating a Sixth Form community of approximately 300 students.
How many places are available for students joining from other schools?
For entry into Year 12 in September 2027, there is currently capacity for 30 external students. If fewer eligible BOA Digital students progress into the Sixth Form, additional places may become available for students applying from other schools.
Can current BOA Digital students apply for Year 12?
Yes. Current BOA Digital students can progress into the Sixth Form provided they meet the minimum academic entry requirements for their chosen programme of study. Students will still need to complete the Sixth Form application process so that we can understand their course choices and intended pathway.
Can students from other schools apply?
Absolutely. We welcome applications from students currently studying at other schools. External applicants will need to meet the same academic and course-specific entry requirements as students currently studying at BOA Digital.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry requirements depend on the programme and individual courses you wish to study. Different pathways have different minimum GCSE and Average Point Score (APS) requirements, and some individual subjects also require particular GCSE grades. You can find full details on our Entry Requirements and individual Course pages.
If I meet the entry requirements, am I guaranteed my chosen courses?
Meeting the entry requirements means you are academically eligible for the course or pathway, but it does not automatically guarantee a particular course combination. Course availability will depend on factors including student numbers, timetable arrangements and whether individual courses are able to run. Your final programme will also need to be appropriate for your prior achievement and meet the relevant entry requirements.
How do I apply?
Applications should be made directly to BOA Digital Technologies Academy through our online Applicaa application system. The application will allow you to tell us about yourself, indicate the courses you are interested in and begin planning your Sixth Form pathway.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for applications for September 2027 entry is: 26 FEBRUARY 2027
Applications received by this date will be treated as on-time applications and considered before late applications. We recommend applying as early as possible so that you have plenty of time to explore your options and discuss your proposed programme with us.
Can I apply after 26 February 2027?
Yes. Applications received after the deadline can still be considered. However, late applications will be considered after on-time applications and in the order in which they are received, so we strongly recommend applying by 26 February 2027 wherever possible.
When will offers be made?
Conditional offers will be made on or after 26 February 2027 and may be issued on a rolling basis. Any offer will be conditional upon you achieving the required GCSE grades and meeting the entry requirements for your proposed programme of study.
What does a conditional offer mean?
A conditional offer means that we are offering you a place based on the information available at the time of application, but there are conditions you must meet before your place can be confirmed. For most students, this will mean achieving the GCSE grades and other entry requirements required for their chosen pathway and courses. Your final programme will therefore be confirmed once your GCSE results are known.
What happens when I receive an offer?
If you receive an offer, you will need to accept it by the deadline stated in your offer. You will be able to respond through the Applicaa online application system. Make sure you check your application account and communications from the Academy regularly so that you don’t miss any important information or deadlines.
What happens if I don't respond to my offer?
If you don’t respond by the deadline stated in your offer, your offer may be withdrawn and the place could be offered to another applicant.
What happens if my GCSE results are different from what I expected?
Don’t panic. GCSE results can sometimes be higher or lower than predicted. If you don’t meet the entry requirements for your original pathway or course combination, we will consider whether there is an alternative programme for which you meet the requirements. Where an alternative pathway is offered, you will need to accept that programme in order to take up your Sixth Form place.
Will my GCSE results affect which courses I can study?
Yes. Your final Sixth Form programme will be based on your GCSE results, Average Point Score and any subject-specific entry requirements. This is important because we want students to begin courses where they have the academic foundations needed to succeed. Our admissions and enrolment process will help you understand which pathways and course combinations are available to you.
What happens if I have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?
Applications for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) are considered through the relevant statutory EHCP process. Where BOA Digital Technologies Academy is named in the final EHCP and the student meets the relevant minimum admission criteria, a place will be offered.
Is priority given to looked-after and previously looked-after children?
Yes. Where the Sixth Form is oversubscribed, looked-after children and previously looked-after children who meet the required entry criteria receive priority in accordance with the Academy’s published admission arrangements.
What happens if there are more applicants than available places?
If more eligible external applicants apply than there are external places available, the Academy’s published oversubscription criteria will be used to determine how places are allocated. Meeting the academic entry requirements therefore establishes eligibility but does not, where the Sixth Form is oversubscribed, automatically guarantee an external place.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to study before I apply?
No. We want you to have explored the courses that interest you, but we recognise that your ideas may develop during Year 11. Your initial choices help us understand your interests and plan our curriculum. There will be opportunities to discuss your programme before you join us, and your final course choices will be confirmed following your GCSE results and enrolment. The important thing is to explore your options, understand the entry requirements and choose courses that reflect your strengths, interests and future ambitions.
